Charlestowne Hotels, Inc. to manage lodging and activity center at Sea Trail
Dec 1, 2009 - Charlestowne Hotels, Inc. has reached an agreement with Sea Trail Corporation to be the
managing partner for onsite lodging, rental operations and the Village Activity Center.
The Resort encompasses over 2,000 acres in Sunset Beach, which sits conveniently between the
history and quaint shops of Wilmington, NC and the numerous entertainment and shopping venues
of Myrtle Beach, SC. Sea Trail is the eighth property to be added to the portfolio in 2009
and coincides with Charlestowne Hotels’ quest to expand its presence in the Southeast.
In addition to luxury resort accommodations, the Sea Trail Convention Center, voted 2009
Best of the South by Meetings South, features 58,000 square feet of convention and event
space. The Village Activity Center offers additional locations for social events and
gatherings around the beautifully landscaped pool or inside in the Sunset Room.
Guests may also enjoy the indoor pool, fitness center and spa treatments available there.
Sea Trail also boasts three award winning golf courses by renowned designers Rees Jones,

Bill White named November Employee of the Month

Georgia Bland named October Employee of the Month

Sea Trail Golf Resort & Convention Center has named Georgia Bland as
their October Employee of the Month. The other nominees were: Luther Lanning, Sue Moss, Marlene Hehnke,
Bernarda Garcia and Jeff Gathings.
Bland started her employment at Sea Trail in April of 1991 as a Reservationist.
Georgia has worn many hats at Sea Trail including Front Office, Waitress, Receptionist, Administrative Assistant, Assistant to Director of Real Estate Operations and finally to her present position as Assistant to the Property Manager.
"Georgia Bland is a remarkable employee for Sea Trail," said Chris Robertson, marketing manager for Sea Trail. "To find someone that works just as hard now as they did 17 years ago is exemplary. Kevin Nobles named July Employee of the Month

Sea Trail Golf Resort & Convention Center has named Kevin Nobles as
their July Employee of the Month. The other nominees were: Siobhan Webb,
Robyne Matthews, Ginger Leggett, Janet Miller and Patti Dugan.
Nobles began work at Sea Trail in 2003. He started his employment with
Sea Trail as a mechanic and in 2004 he became the lead mechanic in the
Golf Maintenance Department.
"Kevin Nobles is an invaluable part of Sea Trail Corporation and has been
an outstanding employee since the day he began working here," said Matt
Owens, director of golf maintenance at Sea Trail Golf Resort and Convention

The Jones course at Sea Trail Golf Resort & Convention Center, located in
Sunset Beach, N.C., was named one of the top 100 courses along the North
Carolina coast by the North Carolina Golf Panel. The Panels rankings were
reported in the April issue of Business North Carolina magazine in a special
section spotlighting the states 100 best courses.
Sea Trail's Jones Course is ranked number 64 among the state's Top 100,
making it a part of a prestigious list that includes Pine Needles Lodge &
Golf Club, the site of the 2006 U.S. Women's Open and the renowned Pinehurst
No. 2.

The Jones Course debuted in spring 1990. Its namesake, Rees Jones, has earned
the nickname The Open Doctor for his redesign of courses that were preparing
to host major championships. He has remodeled seven U.S. Open venues, five
PGA courses, three Ryder Cup sites, and one Walker Cup course. Jones, who is
the son of the father of modern golf course architecture, Robert Trent Jones,
skillfully applied his knowledge and experience in the design of his course
at Sea Trail.
The Business North Carolina rankings are based on survey results from the
North Carolina Golf Panel. Panel members can only vote on courses they
have played.

Ralph Watson named June Employee of the Month
July 30, 2008 -
Sea Trail Golf Resort & Convention Center has named Ralph Watson as
their June Employee of the Month. The other nominees were: Frank Held,
Derrick Luddley, Bonnie Cain, Peggy Barnett, Anita Langin, Paul Nacovsky,
Jim Giroud, Herman Williams, Kathleen Johnson and Heidi Kohn.
Watson, who is originally from Durham, NC, began work at Sea Trail in
1991, working with heavy equipment in the Grounds Maintenance Department.
In April 2000, he transferred to Procurement and Supply and works in the
parts department to cut costs by competitive pricing and strict monitoring
of parts and tool usage. Watson runs a tight ship, very organized and
efficient, stated Billie Stout, human resources generalist at Sea Trail
Golf Resort and Convention Center.
Ralph is one of the most diligent, committed people that I have ever worked
with in regards to his job description and responsibilities, said Matt Owens,
director of golf maintenance at Sea Trail Golf Resort and Convention Center.
He comes to work every day with the same straight forward attitude and makes
every decision based upon finding a way for our department to function in the
most efficient manner possible.

B.J. Stephens Wins Supplier Of The Year 2008 And Presidents
Award From The N.C. Society Of Government Meeting Professionals

Sea Trail Golf Resort & Convention Center meeting professional B.J.
Stephens, was recently honored with two awards from the North Carolina
Society of Government Meeting Professionals (NCSGMP). Stephens, convention
sales manager at Sea Trail, was named Supplier Of The Year and also took
home the Presidents Award during the group's annual board retreat held
last month at Sea Trail Golf Resort and Convention Center.
This is a great accomplishment for B.J. especially considering this is
her first year being involved within the organization, said Donna Rabon,
director of sales at Sea Trail Golf Resort & Convention Center. B.J. has
proven to be a valuable asset to our team and we are very proud of her and
her accomplishments.
SGMP is a non-profit professional organization involved in planning
government meetings. It was established in October 1981 and currently
includes 28 chapters and more than 3,500 members.

Center has named Gina Montgomery as their May Employee of the Month at
a celebratory function recognizing all nominees. The nominees were:

and experience at Sea Trail. She has the knowledge and ability to answer
many questions from guests and co-workers. When times at Sea Trail have
gotten extremely busy, she has taken on the responsibility of driving the
shuttle bus. She has proven herself to be very versatile. And as Ann
Williamson, front desk supervisor at Sea Trail notes, A friendly face
at the front desk is always a great asset!

has named Charles Ripple as their April Employee of the Month at a celebratory

Michele Kelly, Marlene Hehnke, Georgia Bland, Janice Held, George Mann,

Ripple started at Sea Trail in 2001 in the Landscaping Department. He moved
into the Grounds Maintenance Department in 2004. Although Ripple's job may be
considered behind-the-scenes, it's hard not to overlook the beautiful results
of all his hard work in the various annuals, perennials and
azaleas around property.
“Charlie is an asset to Sea Trail, showing up to work each day with a smile on
his face, ready to work,” said Mark Benton, assistant director of golf
maintenance at Sea Trail. “Take a ride around the golf courses and you'll
see what kind of an impact Charlie has made here with all the landscape plantings

Sea Trail Golf Resort & Convention Center has named Norma Peters as the
Employee of the Year for 2007 and Ravina Roberts as the Manager of the

May 19, 2008 - Norma Peters is the Administrative Assistant for the Resort
Maintenance and IT Departments at Sea Trail. Norma was selected from twelve
Employees of the Month for 2007. The 2007 Employees of the Month were:

INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT
Writers From Throughout The Eastern United States And Canada Competed To Win
The “Sea Trail Golf Writers Invitational”
April 23, 2008 - Sea Trail Golf Resort & Convention Center, located
in Sunset Beach, N.C. hosted their inaugural Sea Trail Golf Writers Invitational
Tournament April 4-6 at the resort’s Jones and Maples courses. Participants
included 12 golf writers from across the United States and Canada.
Grant Hall of The Morning News Of Northwest Arkansas won the event, and
Denis Messier, of La Tribune in Quebec, Canada was the tournament’s
runner-up.
“We at Sea Trail were honored to host this invitational tournament and the
great group of guys who participated in it,” said Tom Plankers president of
golf at Sea Trail Golf Resort & Convention Center. “We developed this
event as a prelude to Augusta, a stop along the way for writers heading there for
The Masters. It was an opportunity for them to enjoy the camaraderie of their fellow
writers, as well as some friendly competition. They told us they had a lot of fun
and they gathered a lot of information for a travel feature. It was a win-win for
them and for Sea Trail, so we plan to build on its success next year and invite
even more writers to participate.”

Award-Winning Chef Brings Exceptional Experience To The Resort
March 14, 2008 - Sea Trail Golf Resort & Convention Center in Sunset
Beach, N.C. has announced Chef Robbie Nicolaisen as their new executive chef.
Nicolaisen won the 2007 National Recipe Award from starchefs.com, which is an
award-winning online magazine for celebrity chefs. His career encompasses positions
as executive chef for resorts such as Baywatch Resort and Conference Center in
N. Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Charleston on the Beach – Holiday Inn in Folly Beach,
S.C.; and Hilton Charleston Harbor Resort in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
“We are excited to add Chef Nicolaisen to our resort as our executive
chef,” said Nigel Cossey, director of food and beverage at Sea Trail
Golf Resort & Convention Center. “His ability to prepare exceptional
dishes for large special events, as well as his array of experience will enhance
the resort’s featured restaurant, Magnolias Fine Food and Spirits.”
Nicolaisen is a graduate of Johnson & Wales University in Charleston, S.C. where

23 Colleges Will Participate In Event, Hosted By Sea Trail Resort For
Seven Years
September 5, 2007Sea Trail Golf Resort & Convention Center will host
the 2007 Collegiate Golf Tournament on September 21st through
September 23rd, 2007. This is the seventh year that Sea Trail is hosting
the event.
Teams will participate in the three-day, 54-hole event, which will be played on
The Jones Course and The Byrd Course. The field for the Collegiate Tournament
is comprised of 22 men’s teams and 16 women’s teams from 23 colleges.
“We are delighted to be hosting the collegiate tournament again,” said
Tom Plankers, President of Sea Trail Golf. “Our courses are in great condition
for the competition.”
The 23 colleges include six from North Carolina, five from Virginia, two from
South Carolina, two from Maryland, two from Florida and one team each from
Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Ohio. This year’s
host college is Elon University in Elon, N.C. Other participating colleges include
High Point University in High Point, N.C.; Gardener-Webb University in Boiling
Springs, N.C.; University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg, S.C.; James
Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va.; Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio;
and Stetson University in DeLand, Fla.

Former Chef De Cuisine Robert DeRosa Brings Knowledge And Experience To The
Resort’s Dining
August 9, 2007 - Sea Trail Golf Resort & Convention Center has promoted
Chef Robert DeRosa from Chef de Cuisine to Executive Chef.
DeRosa is a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York,
one of the most prestigious, intense and well recognized culinary schools in the
world. He has served as an apprentice in the well-known French Equinox hotel in
Manchester, Vt., Cobbs Mill Inn in Weston. Conn. and the Red Barn in
Westport, Conn.
“We are pleased to name Chef DeRosa as our Executive Chef,” said Nigel
Cossey, director of food and beverage at Sea Trail Golf Resort & Convention
Center. “His extreme passion and love for fine food, haute cuisine and fresh
seafood coupled with fifteen years of experience in the industry has lead to his
promotion within the ranks at Sea Trail.”
Chef DeRosa showcases his exclusive creations during specialty dinners and
“Wines Of The World” wine dinners that are held at Sea Trail’s
Magnolias Fine Food & Spirits. The newly renovated Magnolias is open to the

Before joining the Sea Trail staff, Chef DeRosa spent four years as Chef de Cuisine

September 2, 2007. The resort’s close proximity to the attractions of

May 3, 2007 - The Mother’s Day Package includes two nights accommodations

Those staying on the Mother’s Day package can also enjoy a complimentary
brunch on Sunday, May 13. The public is also invited to the Mother’s Day
brunch; the cost is $24.95 for adults and $12.50 for children ages six to 12.
